The Olympics

Wow!  Has this been a great year or what?  We are loving the Olympics this year.  Watching the swimming has been awesome.  How far will Michael Phelps go?  He appears unbeatable.
It is truly remarkable how amazing he is.

This is one of my favorite pictures.  Natalie Coughlin, first women in 40yrs  to defend her gold medal.   It makes me want to jump up and down yelling "Yes"!  She is one of Cheyenne's very favorite swimmers.  She swims Cheyennes race 100m backstroke.

I did not know Shawn Johnson from Adam before the Olympics started.  I am now a huge fan.  She is amazing.  I get too involved in the events and I get bitter towards the judges when a very obvious bias appears.  At what point are the judges held accountable for their scores.  The scores are so subjective.  Help me understand.

Nastia Liukin was also a complete unknown to me.  The pressure must be suffocating when both your parents are gymnasts, but she seems to handle it very well.  Her Dad on the other hand seems much more nervous than she is.  (That is pretty normal: ) )She is so good she has a move she does on the balance beam named after her.

I don't know about you but I really enjoy watching these athletes who have worked so hard and made so many sacrifices succeed.  I want to cry with them when they stumble or fall.  What is it about the Olympics that makes us feel like we know these people.  Maybe it is that they are representing the USA so we take pride in being fellow Americans.   Whatever the reason, I love the Olympics and being inspired by each athletes stories.  They are amazing.
