I love old barns. I think they have so much character. My favorite is the classic red barn.
I am sure the pioneers didn't have such a smooth ride. : ) I am sure they wished they would have had rubber tires.
This is a replica of Heber C. Kimballs Home. It was a lot of fun to tour. My Great-Grandfather William Atkin Gheen's sisters Amanda and Alice both married Heber. Alice is the grandmother of Spencer W. Kimball. Each of the descendants of the wives had made a stack of quilts in their honor. It was fun to see Aunt Alice and Aunt Amanda's Quilts. Cheyenne and Quince were so excited to see everything and hear the stories.
This is the room in honor of President Kimball.
One of my favorite things about Old homes is that most of them have fabulous porches. Wouldn't you just love to curl up with a great book on this porch?
I am so grateful for a wonderful heritage. Visiting This is the Place Heritage Park was a wonderful experience. Yes it was hot and dusty, but that was a very small taste of what it was like everyday for our ancestors.
As I walked the dirt streets and visited each site I wanted to tell my ancestors thank you. Thanks for working so hard for me. Thanks for accepting the gospel for me. Thanks for leaving your comfortable homes and traveling west for me. Thanks for the great examples of faith that you have showed me. You showed me that through great adversity faith will carry you through. You showed me that the Lord can mend broken hearts when loved ones are lost. You showed me that Women are strong and capable. You showed me that I can do anything that is put before me. (because you already did) Thanks for sacrificing so much for me. Thanks for a tradition of honesty. Thanks for setting the foundation that can continue to grow stronger with each new generation that honors their priesthood and serves the Lord faithfully. I can not than you enough for the life I have now. Thank you. I am forever in your debt.
