We are trying to find the secret to helping her through pre-race nerves.
I think that she was so tired. Her coach worked them out from 9:30-12pm today. I think that that was too much before a huge race. (maybe that is why I am not the coach ;) ) What I am learning through all of this is that each swimmer is so different. What works for one does not necessarily work for all. Cheyenne is a gifted swimmer and I have to keep reminding her that failure is part of the learning process. The important thing is never giving up. I know that when you have just completed a race and did not meet your expectations that you do not want to hear any of that. So I am venting here. This lets me say it without making her madder. Tomorrow she will agree.
Tonight though I just give hugs and tell her that swimming a mile is amazing. Swimming it in 24 minutes on your very first try is okay.
Cheyenne you are amazing. I love you.
